A collaboration that strengthens exports in the flexible packaging sector
EU-Compliant Certification Collaboration for the Flexible Packaging Sector by CERTILOOP and FASD
A significant step has been taken in the field of recycled content and recyclability certifications, which are of critical importance for access to European markets. CERTILOOP, a conformity assessment body recognized with EU accreditation and providing certification services compliant with European Union regulations, has signed a cooperation protocol with the Flexible Packaging Manufacturers Association (FASD). Within the scope of this collaboration, FASD member companies will be able to access internationally recognized certification services under advantageous conditions, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in export markets.
This protocol, implemented in cooperation with FASD, which represents the flexible packaging sector in Türkiye, covers recycled content certification, recyclability assessments, verification of recycling processes, and technical training programs. Through this collaboration, FASD members will be able to manage their compliance processes with regulations such as the European Union Green Deal objectives, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and plastic taxes in a more effective and reliable manner.
CERTILOOP, which is recognized by the European Union in the field of plastic recycling and operates one of only two accredited programs worldwide, enables companies to access EU markets without facing additional tax burdens by certifying the use of recycled content in exports. Under the protocol, FASD members will benefit from a 10% discount on CERTILOOP’s certification services and a 15% discount on training programs. In addition, a sector-specific certification and regulatory compliance report tailored exclusively for the association will be prepared at the end of the year.
SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING, STRONG EXPORTS
Commenting on the collaboration, CERTILOOP General Manager Yağmur Eroğlu emphasized the strategic importance of the flexible packaging sector and stated:
“The flexible packaging sector is one of Türkiye’s most strategic industrial fields, both in terms of export strength and technical capacity. Through this protocol signed with FASD, we aim to enable companies to substantiate their environmental claims with internationally recognized certifications and to operate with confidence in European markets. Contributing to concrete and measurable steps in the sustainability journey of Turkish industry is a major motivation for us.”
FASD Chairman of the Board Abdullah Tayfun Terzioğlu evaluated the contribution of the collaboration to the sector with the following remarks:
“The flexible packaging sector requires fast, accurate, and reliable action in the areas of sustainability and regulatory compliance. As flexible packaging manufacturers that account for a significant portion of Türkiye’s plastic exports, this collaboration we have signed with CERTILOOP provides our members with a clear roadmap for technical verification and certification processes while facilitating access to European markets. We believe that this protocol will further enhance the international competitiveness of our sector.”
